My Resume
Biography- get to know me!

Why I chose Animas:

As a freshman, I moved to Durango, CO from Atlanta, GA. I had no idea what school  I was going to go to. My brother went to an Animas Information night, and told my parents about the school, because he thought I would love it. Hearing about for the first time, he was right. It sounded perfect.  Despite how perfect it sounded, my parents still wanted me to shadow Durango High School, even though I was almost positive I was going to choose Animas. So, when we came out to Durango in April, I shadowed DHS, along with Animas. Surprisingly, I really liked DHS, and then I started to freak out a little bit. I thought it was gonna be a straightforward easy decision. It wasn't. It took me from April, to July to officially decide Animas. After many talks with my parents, siblings and best friends, I figured out why the decision was so hard for me. I realized that I was scared to choose Animas. Deep down I knew Animas was the school that would be better for me, but because I was already going through such a big change, I was convincing myself I should take the easy way out. DHS was what I was used to- what was normal for me. I had always gone to huge traditional learning schools, so that was the easier choice. I could adapt to that style of learning much faster. Although, in figuring this out, I realized that Animas is what I really wanted. I learn better with not as many people around me, and I was so drawn to the close student-teacher relationships. All the classes I have loved in the past, were because I loved my teacher, and had a close relationship with them. Now that I have chosen Animas, I love going to school everyday, which is something that was not always true for me in my past school career. Animas was definitely the right decision.
