The Truth of Happiness
The Truth of Happiness Project was a chance for us to understand generally and individually, what true happiness means in today’s society.
Throughout this project, my search for the Truth of Happiness was more of a continuation than starting from the beginning. The past year I have tried to answer the question for myself. Moving was a new start for me so I got the opportunity to live any way I wanted to. I got the opportunity to live the way that I would be happy in. Although through this project, I have gained new perspectives that have helped me reach my answer. I think the simplest way to say everything I have learned is: Sustainable happiness is only reached through valuing intrinsic goals in your life.
I think the greatest challenges I faced throughout this project was overcome being closed mindedness. Through my own individual research, I kept the mindset that I already knew what I was reading and there was really nothing else to learn. I believe I overcame this challenge by changing my mind set. I changed my mindset to think that I did not know anything and I had so much to learn. After doing this I opened my mind to so many new perspectives that I would not have understood before. During this project we were to work in groups to create a video as the final product. The groups were formed based on people that researched similar topics on happiness. For example, in my group the different research topics were: how sustainable happiness is affected by valuing intrinsic goals versus extrinsic, how random acts of kindness affects one’s happiness, and how social media affects one’s happiness. Our group came together with the idea that social media had to do with extrinsic values, random acts of kindness has to do with intrinsic values, and the third one was the more general idea of both. While we were working as a group we became very organized; each person had a job to do. For example, I was the videographer. I was the most experienced, and I really enjoyed doing it. There was a writer, and an editor. I think we worked extremely well together. I think it is the best group project I have ever completed. Not only was I proud of the outcome, but I think my group worked extremely well together. If I could refine a part of this project, I think it would be more focus on Brave New World. I really enjoyed this book, but I do not think I understood it and analyzed it as much as I could of. For example instead of really reading and comprehending the chapters, I rushed through them because I was worried I would not have enough time to finish them. I think if I had really taken the time to understand this book more complexly, I would have gotten much more perspective on the Truth of Happiness. |
