My Celebration! This week I would love to celebrate my engagement with the Dalai Lama reading. This was my favorite reading so far, and I believe that is part of the reason I was so engaged. I also believe that this style of writing that is backed up with anecdotal evidence, is the type I do best with. When we got the reading I didn't really know what to expect, but as I got into the first few pages, I was hooked. I found my self highlighting many of the sections, and taking it one step further to apply what I was reading to my life. Each time I highlighted something, I would try to pause and think about a time where I did that in my own life experiences. This really allowed me to engage with the reading. I relate this back to one of the pillars of the academic mindset reading. In that reading, it argued that students are more engaged when they can see the value their education has in their life. Animas, and humanities classes at Animas in particular, have allowed me to see the value and relate the content to my own experiences which I am so thankful for.
